Report Lake Concerns
To report a concern with Bear Lake, please email board@bllb.org. Please include your name, address, and location of your concern. Please include a description of your concern and include some clear photos. Someone from the BLLB will review your concern and get back with you.
As a reminder, PLM is our lake management consultant and treatment provider. They come out monthly during the summer to survey and treat our lake. The focus of treatment is invasive plant growth and algae, All treatments fall under the “Standard Permit For Pesticide Application To Surface Waters Of The State Of Michigan” granted to PLM/BLLB by EGLE.
Our permit and EGLE are much more restrictive on if/how we treat native vegetation. Treatment for native plants will only happen if there is an excessive impairment preventing residents from using the lake. Native treatments must be approved by the BLLB and fall within much more restrictive guidelines in how it’s treated and must be very minimal and targeted in application. Most years, there are no treatments for native plants.
